Sauvegarde du patrimoine immatériel – collecte des chants traditionnels du Cameroun

01 - 31 July 2024

We are delighted to announce the renewal of our partnership with Les Amis du Chœur Madrigal du Cameroun! This collaboration follows on from the first song drive, which took place in Bangoulap in 2021. This year, the initiative will take place in July in the East, North and North-West regions of Cameroon.

Les Amis du Chœur Madrigal du Cameroun met with local communities to collect songs directly from the source. These songs will then be adapted through a musical arrangement process, performed by a choir and presented at public performances. The aim of this project is to preserve the country’s intangible cultural heritage by transcribing and disseminating traditional songs, in order to raise awareness of the country’s rich musical heritage.

The commitment of Les Amis du Chœur Madrigal du Cameroun is in line with the values of our institutions. We are proud to support, alongside UNESCO, this artistic initiative which celebrates Cameroon’s intangible cultural heritage.
