Safeguarding intangible heritage - collecting traditional songs from Cameroon

This collaboration follows on from the first song drive, which took place in Bangoulap in 2021. This year, the initiative will take place in July in the East, North and North-West regions of Cameroon.

Espace Culturel Gacha, represented by Danilo Lovisi, art historian and cultural director of our two institutions, presented a paper entitled "Les routes du ndop" as part of the colloquium "Les patrimoines vagabonds / Wandering Heritage" organized by the Maison de la Recherche de l'Université Toulouse - Jean Jaurès, on November 23 and 24, 2023. The symposium focused on the mobile notion of heritage.

Creative residency - Alice Ifergan Rey's Interview

Alice Ifergan Rey is a performance artist who has been making masks for horses and riders for the past few years in order to create an aesthetic and relational continuity between the two beings. Alice chose the Jean-Félicien Gacha Foundation for her creative residency. She walked on the red earth of Bangoulap on March 16th in order to create a horse's mask that is partially beaded following the traditional beading technique used by the Foundation's artisans.

Since 2002, the NGO Fondation Jean-Félicien Gacha has been working in Cameroon to encourage professional vocations and transmit skills and knowledge. The Foundation, together with its local partners, invests in education, vocational training and culture: providing children with access to schooling, training young people in trades and developing their capacities for action and talents.
